The 47th International Conference on Boundary Elements and other Mesh Reduction Methods will be held in Seville, Spain, from September 25th to 27th, 2024
https://www.wessex.ac.uk/conferences/2024/bem-mrm-47
The annual conference on Boundary Elements and other Mesh Reduction Methods (BEM/MRM) which started in 1978, now in its 47th version, will be held in Seville, Spain.
Since 1978, this conference series has attracted high quality papers reporting further advances in techniques which reduce or eliminate the type of meshes associated with finite elements or finite differences, for instance.
Theoretical developments and new foundations reported at the meetings for more than 40 years have helped to expand the range of applications of the meshless methods as well as the type of analysed materials in response to industrial and professional requirements. This ability to evolve is reflected in the history of the conference series which has ensured the success of the meetings as well as the establishment of a community of stakeholders.
As design, analysis and manufacture become more integrated, the chances are that the users will be less aware of the capabilities of the analytical techniques that are at the core of the process. This reinforces the need to retain expertise in certain specialised areas of numerical methods, such as BEM/MRM, to ensure that all new tools perform satisfactorily in the integrated process.
The maturity of BEM since 1978 has resulted in a substantial number of industrial applications which demonstrate the accuracy, robustness and easy use of the technique. Their range still needs to be widened further, taking into account the potentialities of the mesh reduction techniques in general.
This well-established conference series acts as a forum to discuss new ideas and critically compare results before solutions and modelling tools are released to end users.
The meeting welcomes all stakeholders interested in the methods and particularly the participation of young researchers. Their new contributions have been the principal reason why the conference has continued to evolve.
Since 1978 the meetings have produced a collection of edited volumes in which major developments in the field have been reported. This valuable series has been offered in digital form since 1993, with all papers Open Access available in the Wessex Institute’s eLibrary website (www.witpress.com/elibrary), where they can be easily accessed and downloaded for free.

The following list covers some of the topics to be presented at BEM/MRM 47. Papers on other subjects related to the objectives of the conference are also welcome.

Location
Seville is the capital of the Andalusia region and is situated on the river Guadalquivir. The city is more than 2,200 years old and has a distinct personality and a large and well-preserved historical centre. The old town contains three world heritage sites: the Minaret of La Giralda, the General Archive of the Indies and the Alcázar Palace. The city is also home to many convents, churches, palaces, museums and gardens including the Museum of Fine Arts, Parque de María Luisa and the Gothic Cathedral which is the site of Christopher Columbus’s tomb. It is believed that flamenco originated in Seville, and there are many flamenco shows on offer all over the city, as well as the museum dedicated to the art.
